Anderson Silva vs Demian Maia

I am probably Anderson's biggest fan and I would be lying if I said this was both an interesting match as much as a close match. At the beggining of this fight, if we can even call it that, Silva was displaying his incredibly wide knowledge in martial arts by taking stances of various martial arts such as Tea Kwon Do, Capoeira, and Muay Thai. When this match started I thought that it was going to go very simmilar to the Forrest Griffin fight but as it got out of the second round I knew something was wrong. First round basically goes Anderson, Anderson, Anderson he fought Maia with his hands below his weight the whole round, he was landing some incredible kicks and punches. The second round went pretty simmilar, but, in my opinion, Anderson started getting a little to cocky, mocking and insulting Demian during the fight. The third round started of much the same as the previous ones but during the half way point of the round Silva basically went from total offence to total defence. He just kind of stood there with Maia not doing much but just landing a couple jabs and avoiding bieng taken down for the duration of not only that round but the whole fight.
I know that Anderson is going to get bashed on allot because of this fight and becuase of it he is gonna have allot to prove, which has happened before. And an Anderson Silva alone is a scary guy but an Anderson Silva with something to prove is a wrecking ball and I'm looking foward to his next fight.

Possible Anderson Silva vs. Goerge St. Pierre

In the press conference for UFC 112 Anderson Silva reported that he had been thinking of dropping down to 170 pound division, accordingly Dana White said he was amazed that Anderson would say this but that if Silva was able to get to that weight Dana White would probably let this fight happen. If this fight happens it is gonna be the most anticipated fights in MMA history! The two Pound-for-pound best MMA fighters in the world will go at it!

PREDICTION

I think Anderson is a better fighter all around, his striking is 10 times better and his jiu jitsu is 10 times better, having said that if GSP is able to take Silva down hold him down and just ground and pound even though he will make a boring fight he will win! But if Anderson works allot on his takedown defence he might just take it home.

John Fitch vs. Thiago Alves 2 Predictions

Okay so I wanted to start talking about their previous fight in which John Fitch won by TKO via head kick followed up with some ground and pound in the second round.

This fight was a pretty high pace match up which Fitch controled every second of, it starts out with one of Thiago's impeccible leg kicks which actually causes Fitch to fall to the ground but when Alves tries to keep John on his back Fitch quikly reverses it and Thiago ends up on his back. Thiago actually tries to go for a couple good submissions but John is relentless with his ground and pound and blocks every one of them. The whole first round basically goes with good ground and pound by Fitch, and good submission attemps by Alves.

The second round starts off a little different with a high kick by Fitch and then a double leg takedown. Thiago manages to shrug him off for just enough time to get up, but fitch immidiatly holds him up agianst the cage and then takes him down again. He holds Thiago down for a little while and then takes his back and goes for a rear naked choke, after a while of strugling Alves manages to get to Fitch's guard. Then comes the end of the fight which is actually a very impresive, Fitch gets to full mount, but Thiago escapes yet Fitch is able to grab his arm. Thiago pulls his arm fast which forces Fitch to let go, but then Fitch, from his back, hits a spectacular head kick which stuns Thiago, who falls to the ground, and then Fitch pounds him for a few seconds and then the referee stops the fight.

John Fitch absolutely controled Thiago for both rounds, having said that and taking into consideration Thiago Alves' improved striking I think if Thiago can keep the fight on his feet he will knock out John Fitch.
